Wedding Day

1921

Mom and Pop were married in 1921 and soon had their first child, Rita in 1922. Brother Lou arrived in 1925 and Arthur in 1929. Along the way they bought in partnership with Aunt Adel and Uncle Eugene the house in Astoria, 23 30-33rd St. Eventually the four sisters lived in the house with all the 8 children. They expanded the house to 4 apartments to make space for the four families. When they did the expansion they also built in a winemaking cellar for the four families. Each family had its section and come mid October the air was thick with the smell of fermentation and fruit flies. It was a lively place.

Considering they were both imigrants just lately arrived from tenant farms in Italy, I think they look very aristocratic.
